Against the backdrop of global manufacturing’s low-carbon transformation and continuous upgrading of internal operation standards, the material handling link that runs through all production processes is undergoing prominent equipment structure adjustment. For a long time, internal combustion forklifts relying on fossil fuel have occupied a dominant position in factory warehouses and production lines, but in recent years, the penetration rate of lithium-powered forklifts has shown a steady upward trend across multiple manufacturing sub-sectors.
Compared with traditional fuel-powered models, lithium forklifts have no exhaust emissions during operation, which can well adapt to the closed production workshop environment that requires strict air quality control. Its core power component supports fast charging and opportunity charging modes, which can meet the continuous operation needs of multi-shift production modes in large manufacturing plants, without the need for lengthy battery replacement or fuel replenishment procedures. The overall daily operation and maintenance cost is also significantly lower than that of fuel equipment, as it does not involve frequent engine oil replacement, filter element cleaning and other routine maintenance work.
In different manufacturing segments, the applicable scenarios of lithium forklifts are also expanding continuously. In the electronic manufacturing industry that has strict requirements for dust and exhaust prevention in the production workshop, lithium forklifts can complete the handling of raw materials and semi-finished products without interfering with the clean production environment. In food processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing sectors that have clear regulations on volatile pollutant discharge in the production area, zero-emission lithium forklifts can fully meet the relevant compliance requirements. For heavy equipment manufacturing scenarios that require large load capacity for outbound and inbound handling, the updated lithium forklift products on the market can already match most of the load demand that was previously only covered by fuel forklifts.
Multiple factors are driving the continuous expansion of the lithium forklift market in the manufacturing sector. First, relevant industrial carbon reduction regulations in many regions require production enterprises to gradually reduce the use of fuel-powered equipment in production areas to lower the overall carbon emission intensity. Second, manufacturing enterprises are increasingly focusing on the full-cycle cost control of operating equipment, and the total cost of lithium forklifts during the whole service life has shown obvious comprehensive advantages compared with traditional models. Third, the supporting facilities for lithium forklift use are becoming more and more complete, and the layout of special charging piles in factory warehouses is gradually becoming a standard configuration for newly built production plants.
At present, the popularization of lithium forklifts in the manufacturing industry still faces some phased constraints, including the relatively high initial one-time procurement cost, and the need to further optimize the matching degree of high-load operation scenarios. In the next stage of industrial development, with the continuous maturity of related power battery technology and the further improvement of the supporting industrial chain, the adoption rate of lithium forklifts in the manufacturing sector is expected to continue to rise, which will effectively promote the overall green and efficient upgrading of the industrial material handling system.
