As modern warehouse space utilization continues to improve, mezzanine floors and elevated operation platforms are widely used to expand storage and work areas, and electric pallet trucks have become common tools for short-distance material transshipment in these scenarios. Unregulated operations on these elevated areas may easily cause safety hazards such as platform damage, cargo falling, and equipment rollover, so it is necessary to strictly follow scientific and standardized operation procedures to ensure full work safety.
Before any formal operation, staff shall complete a full range of site condition checks first. Confirm that the actual load of the operating area, including the total weight of the electric pallet truck, loaded cargo and the operator, does not exceed the rated load capacity marked on the mezzanine floor or elevated platform. Check the ground surface for cracks, damaged anti-slip layers or protruding debris, and confirm that the safety guardrails on the edge of the platform are intact, and the anti-retention stops at the passage entrance are installed firmly without looseness.
Next, carry out full pre-use inspection of the electric pallet truck. Test the braking system to confirm it responds sensitively and can complete parking stably under no-load and full-load conditions. Check the remaining battery power to avoid sudden power loss during operation on elevated areas. Arrange the loaded goods in the center of the pallet, control the total weight within the rated load range of the truck, do not place goods with unbalanced weight, and keep the stacking height of goods not blocking the operator's front sight.
During the operation process, the operator shall keep a low driving speed, avoid sudden acceleration or sudden braking, and reduce the driving speed further when the ground is wet or slippery. Keep a safe distance of no less than 0.5 meters from the edge of the elevated platform, do not perform sharp turns or fast U-turns in narrow areas, and it is strictly forbidden to carry other personnel on the pallet truck. When there is a visual blind area in the driving route, send out a reminder signal in advance to confirm no obstacles or other personnel pass before continuing to move.
All personnel engaged in related operations shall receive systematic professional safety training before taking up the post. The management team shall arrange regular joint inspections of the elevated platforms and electric pallet trucks. Once hidden dangers such as ground deformation, loose guardrails or abnormal braking response of the equipment are found, stop relevant operations immediately and carry out rectification before resuming work.
