Dispatch areas are the core transfer hubs of modern logistics warehouses, where frequent cargo sorting, temporary storage and transfer activities take place. In daily operation scenarios, both manual pallet trucks and electric pallet trucks are often used by different operation teams at the same time, and unreasonable mixed operation may easily lead to vehicle collision, cargo falling or personnel injury risks. Establishing clear and executable mixing rules can effectively coordinate the operation order of different pallet truck types, balance operation efficiency and safety guarantee.
The first core rule is to clarify visual zoning and traffic priority mechanism. The management team shall draw independent operation lines for two types of pallet trucks on the ground of dispatch areas according to daily operation flow statistics. The main through lane with width no less than 2.5 meters is specially set for electric pallet trucks, and the side narrow passage no less than 1.2 meters is reserved for manual pallet trucks. No personnel or idle vehicles are allowed to occupy the dedicated passage at will. Unloaded manual pallet trucks shall give way to fully loaded electric pallet trucks when they meet at the intersection, and all electric pallet trucks shall keep the speed under 3km/h in the whole dispatch area.
The second rule is to unify personnel access and operation permission management. All operators of electric pallet trucks must complete the special safety operation training and pass the assessment before taking up the post. Personnel who only use manual pallet trucks also need to receive basic safety awareness training about mixed traffic scenarios, and are forbidden to start or operate electric pallet trucks without permission. All operation personnel are required to keep effective observation of surrounding environment at any time, and avoid shielding their sight with overheight stacked cargos.
The third rule is to implement peak period guidance and dynamic scheduling. When the operation volume rises to peak level, arrange full-time safety guide at the key intersection of dispatch areas to evacuate blocked vehicles in time. No more than 3 electric pallet trucks and 2 manual pallet trucks are allowed to pass the same cross section at the same time. No vehicle is allowed to park in the middle of the passage for temporary cargo handling, all temporary stay activities must be completed in the designated temporary waiting area.
The fourth rule is to carry out regular pre-shift inspection and hidden danger rectification. Each operator shall check the braking performance, warning indicator and operation status of the vehicle before using it every shift. For manual pallet trucks, the rolling wheel, cargo fork structure and push rod connection part shall be checked for abnormality. Once any fault is found, the vehicle shall be moved to the non-operation maintenance area immediately for reporting, and forbidden to be put into operation with hidden defects. Practicing these rules steadily can effectively reduce the occurrence rate of safety accidents in dispatch areas, and create a stable and orderly operation environment to support the efficient operation of the whole logistics system.
