Electric forklifts are widely used in warehouse, manufacturing and logistics scenarios for short-distance material handling, which brings high efficiency to daily operation. Tire blowout is not a frequent fault during daily use, but improper operation in emergency will easily lead to vehicle sideslip, rollover, cargo drop and even personal injury, so all operation staff need to master standardized safe handling steps systematically.
When a tire blowout suddenly happens during driving, the first critical principle is to avoid slamming the brake pedal immediately, especially when the vehicle is fully loaded and the forks are lifted to a certain height. Sudden braking will easily shift the center of gravity of the whole vehicle sharply, and greatly increase the risk of rollover. The operator should hold the steering wheel or operating lever firmly with both hands, keep the vehicle moving along a straight line, slowly release the acceleration pedal, and let the vehicle decelerate gradually by its own running resistance. If the front tire has a blowout, do not turn the steering wheel sharply to correct the direction, to prevent the vehicle from deviating from the driving route and colliding with surrounding shelves or passing personnel. If the rear tire has a blowout, the vehicle will have slight tail flicking, the operator should apply even force to control the driving direction, avoid repeatedly adjusting the steering angle to prevent side slip.
After the vehicle is completely decelerated to a full stop in a safe area that does not block the main access passage, the operator should pull up the parking brake first, lower the forks completely to fit the ground, cut off the main power supply of the vehicle, and press the emergency stop button. Then place obvious safety warning signs 3 to 5 meters around the faulty vehicle, to remind passing staff and other operating vehicles to avoid this area. Do not replace the tire by yourself without proper protection. If the vehicle is still loaded with heavy goods, move the goods to a nearby stable empty area first, confirm that the vehicle will not shift or roll over accidentally, then inform professional maintenance personnel to deal with the faulty tire.
In daily pre-shift inspection work, operators need to check the tire wear status and tire pressure to make sure they are within the rated range, clean up sharp debris and scattered metal leftover on the driving route in advance, and avoid overloading operation for a long time, so as to reduce the occurrence probability of tire blowout effectively. Following the above operation rules can effectively control the safety risks brought by sudden tire blowout, and ensure the stable and safe operation of the whole work site.
