As the core contact component between electric forklifts and the operation ground, tires directly affect driving stability, energy consumption performance and long-term operation cost, which is a non-negligible part of daily fleet management. A large number of logistics, manufacturing and warehouse operators often face difficulties when choosing between solid tires and pneumatic tires, as they lack clear understanding of the parameter differences between two types of tires under actual usage conditions.
For load bearing parameter, solid tires are manufactured with integrated dense rubber structure without internal air cavity, so the pressure distribution on the grounding contact surface is more even. Under the same external dimension specification, solid tires can bear higher static and dynamic working loads, and will not experience sudden structural deformation even under continuous heavy load operation for hours. For light to medium load electric forklifts that run within the rated load range, the load bearing performance of pneumatic tires can also meet daily usage demands, but extra protection measures are needed when carrying ultra-heavy stacked goods to avoid over deformation.
For wear resistance and environment adaptability parameters, solid tires have no vulnerable air tight layer, which can resist puncture risks from scattered metal scraps, broken construction stones and other sharp debris on the site. Its average service life can reach 2 to 3 times of conventional pneumatic tires under similar harsh road conditions, so it is more suitable for operation sites with complex ground conditions such as outdoor cargo yards, waste sorting areas and heavy industrial manufacturing workshops. Pneumatic tires have soft buffer structure inside, lower grounding pressure, which can effectively reduce the vibration transmitted to the forklift body when driving on uneven gravel roads, lower the risk of fragile goods falling off the forks due to bumping, and reduce abrasion to the forklift steering system.
For energy consumption and maintenance parameters, solid tires have relatively larger rolling resistance, which will cause a small increase in battery power consumption under the same driving speed condition. Pneumatic tires need regular daily inspection on internal air pressure, and timely supplement of gas to keep the pressure within the rated range, to avoid abnormal partial abrasion caused by under-pressure or over-pressure status. Operators can choose the most suitable tire type according to actual site ground conditions, average daily operation duration and regular load characteristics, so as to maximize the comprehensive usage efficiency of electric forklifts.
