In modern warehouse logistics, cold chain storage, aviation cargo transfer and special cargo sorting scenarios usually adopt non-standard special-height pallets to meet specific storage and transportation demands. Conventional electric pallet trucks often fail to enter the pallet fork pockets smoothly or cause unexpected abrasion to pallet structures, so it is necessary to check and confirm multiple core parameters of low-profile electric pallet trucks before putting equipment into actual operation to match the use demands properly.
First, the initial fork lift height is the core parameter that needs priority verification. The lowest resting height of the forks should reserve a reasonable 3mm to 5mm gap with the lower edge of the special-height pallet’s fork pocket when the forks are completely lowered. This reserved gap can avoid hard scraping to the pallet bottom or the ground surface when the equipment runs, and also ensure the forks can be inserted into the pallet pockets smoothly without extra manual adjustment. Operators should measure the actual vertical clearance of the target special-height pallets in advance, instead of only referring to the nominal data marked on the pallet product label, to eliminate the deviation caused by long-term use deformation of the pallets.
Second, the fork dimension parameters should also be matched carefully. The total width between two fork arms, the single fork thickness and the fork length should all fit the structural size of the special-height pallets. The fork length should not exceed the depth of the pallet bearing area, to avoid protruding out of the pallet and scratching other stacked goods in the narrow warehouse aisle. The spacing between two fork arms should be adjusted within the allowable range to make sure the force points are evenly distributed on the pallet supporting beams, reducing the risk of local stress concentration that damages the pallet structure.
Third, the actual load capacity should be calibrated according to the gravity center shift features of special-height pallets. Due to the increased vertical height of the pallet, the overall gravity center of the loaded goods will move up accordingly, operators should properly control the actual load weight within a reasonable range below the rated load of the equipment, to keep the operation stable during full load transportation and turning process.
Finally, the chassis running clearance of the low-profile electric pallet trucks should also be matched with the actual working pavement condition. Proper reserved chassis clearance can avoid scraping the bottom structure when the equipment passes over speed bumps, slope transition sections or uneven ground, extending the whole service life of the equipment. With reasonable parameter matching, enterprises can get stable and efficient material handling experience in daily operation.
