Against the background of increasing daytime road transport pressure and peak labor cost for day shifts, more and more logistics and e-commerce warehouses choose to arrange full night shift operation to make full use of off-peak road resources and control overall operation cost. For this special operation mode, the material handling equipment needs to match the reduced staffing, low auxiliary facility configuration and strict environmental protection requirements in night scenarios, and lithium-ion forklift equipment shows outstanding adaptability in all these dimensions.
First, the stable continuous working duration of lithium-ion forklift can fully cover the whole night shift schedule. After a full charge in the off-period before the night shift starts, the equipment can run continuously for 8 to 12 hours under normal full load handling condition, without extra midway refueling or frequent battery replacement operations. It will not cause unexpected interruption to the continuous picking, loading and unloading workflow that runs through the whole night shift.
Second, the low-noise operation feature of lithium-ion forklift avoids unnecessary interference to surrounding environments and on-site staff. Unlike fuel-powered forklifts with loud engine operation noise, lithium-ion forklifts generate very low sound during driving and cargo lifting process. For night shift warehouses that are often located close to residential zones, this feature effectively reduces the risk of noise complaint from surrounding residents. Meanwhile, clear voice communication between on-site operators can be realized easily without blocking by loud equipment noise, which lowers the hidden safety risks caused by unsmooth information transmission.
Third, the zero-emission and low-heat operation performance of lithium-ion forklift fits the relatively closed night warehouse environment well. Most night shift warehouses do not turn on full ventilation system to save energy consumption, lithium-ion forklifts produce no exhaust gas during the whole operation process, and the heat generated by the equipment is far lower than that of fuel counterparts. There is no need to arrange extra exhaust equipment to discharge waste gas, and the on-site working environment can be kept at comfortable temperature for all night on-duty staff.
Fourth, the low maintenance requirement of lithium-ion forklift matches the reduced on-duty staffing of night shifts. Different from traditional forklifts that need frequent daily maintenance steps such as fluid filling, component cleaning and waste material treatment, lithium-ion forklifts only need simple appearance check and power status inspection before use. The small number of on-site maintenance staff arranged for night shifts can easily finish the inspection and daily management of all handling equipment, reducing the probability of sudden equipment shutdown caused by improper maintenance.
With all the above practical advantages, lithium-ion forklift equipment can properly integrate into the pre-set night shift operation arrangement, support the warehouse to keep stable working efficiency and control comprehensive operation cost in long-term all-night operation.
