For warehouse operation and logistics management personnel, correctly distinguishing different types of electric warehouse trucks is the basic premise of matching appropriate equipment for specific operation links, avoiding unnecessary operation cost waste and potential safety risks. Many new practitioners often confuse electric counterbalance forklifts with other similar warehouse vehicles at the initial contact stage, and cannot quickly lock their core features to complete reasonable scheduling.
The most intuitive identification feature of electric counterbalance forklifts is the independent counterweight structure at the rear of the vehicle. This solid counterweight is installed behind the operator's working position, which provides sufficient reverse torque to offset the load weight on the front fork, so that the vehicle can complete stacking and handling operations of heavy loads without the support of extra outriggers. Most other warehouse trucks, such as reach trucks, pallet trucks and order pickers, do not have this special independent rear counterweight. Some of them adopt the design of outriggers extending forward to share the load force, and some are only used for horizontal handling of goods on the same plane, with no demand for bearing unbalanced loads at high lifting heights.
From the perspective of applicable operation scenarios, electric counterbalance forklifts have more extensive scenario adaptability than most other warehouse trucks. They can not only complete high-position stacking operations in narrow warehouse aisles, but also adapt to outdoor flat ground operations with a small amount of uneven road surface, as long as the ambient conditions meet the basic operation requirements of electric equipment. Other types of warehouse trucks have more obvious scenario pertinence: electric pallet trucks are only used for short-distance horizontal transportation of pallet goods, and their lifting height is usually only maintained at 10 to 20 cm to separate the goods from the ground; order pickers are specially designed for operators to pick goods at different heights of shelves, and their conventional load capacity is far lower than that of standard electric counterbalance forklifts; reach trucks rely on the front outriggers to share the load, so the vehicle needs to occupy more bottom space when lifting heavy loads, and is not suitable for scenarios where the operation space in front of the vehicle is completely limited.
You can also make distinctions from the perspective of conventional performance parameters. The rated load capacity of standard electric counterbalance forklifts usually ranges from 1 ton to 5 tons, and the maximum lifting height can reach more than 6 meters. The center of gravity of the whole vehicle remains stable through the rear counterweight no matter when the fork is at the lowest position or the highest lifting position. The load capacity of most other types of warehouse trucks is concentrated below 3 tons, and the lifting height of pallet trucks is even less than 30 cm under conventional conditions. In daily use, operators can also make a quick judgment through the operation control layout. The working position of electric counterbalance forklifts is usually equipped with an independent standing or sitting pedal for drivers, and the steering wheel is arranged in the direction opposite to the fork movement direction, which is different from the centralized control handle layout of most small warehouse truck products.
Grasping the above core identification points, warehouse operation managers can quickly classify different electric warehouse vehicles, arrange each device to the most matching operation link, and give full play to the due use value of material handling equipment.
