For teams that newly get electric material handling trucks for warehouse, logistics or on-site production scenarios, mastering standardized basic operation knowledge is the core premise to ensure smooth material handling workflow and reduce unnecessary operational risks, regardless of whether the team has previous experience using internal combustion powered handling equipment or not.
The first core module of basic knowledge is pre-operation preparation and inspection. Before each formal use, every operator should walk around the whole equipment to check if there is visible damage on the body, forks or support structures, confirm tire pressure meets standard requirements, test the flexibility of braking system, steering system and operation handle, check remaining power level to ensure it can support the scheduled operation tasks of the shift. Operators should also check the surrounding operation area in advance, clear scattered obstacles on the passage, and make sure no unrelated personnel stay in the designated operation zone before starting the equipment.
The second key part is standard in-operation specifications. Operators should start the equipment at a low and steady speed, avoid rapid acceleration or sudden steering to prevent cargo tipping. The total weight of loaded goods should never exceed the rated load limit of the equipment, and operators should adjust the fork height to a proper level when driving to avoid scraping the ground or hitting overhead facilities. When passing through narrow aisles, turning corners or meeting walking staff, operators should slow down and send out warning signals in advance to keep a safe distance. Operators are forbidden to carry any extra personnel on the equipment, and should pull the hand brake, lower the forks to the lowest position and cut off the power supply once leaving the equipment for a long time.
The last important part is post-operation management and routine maintenance. After finishing the daily operation, operators should park the equipment at the designated special parking zone, never block the fire exit or normal operation passage for other teams. They should clean up the dust and residual debris attached to the equipment surface, check if the battery connection parts are in normal condition, and arrange charging in strict accordance with relevant operation requirements to avoid over-discharge or overheating of the battery. If any abnormal noise, functional lag or hidden fault symptom is found during daily use, operators should report to the corresponding management personnel in time, and do not dismantle the equipment privately without professional guidance.
For new teams, it is recommended to organize repeated practical drilling of the above basic knowledge before formal independent on-duty operation, to help every team member develop good standardized operation habits, reduce unnecessary equipment wear and potential safety hazards, and build a stable and efficient material handling operation environment for the whole work scenario.
