Electric pallet trucks are widely used in daily warehouse material handling scenarios, and non-standard battery charging operations easily lead to hidden safety hazards, shortened battery service life and unexpected operation downtime. Systematic standardized charging procedure training for frontline operators is a core link to ensure stable and efficient daily operation of material handling teams.
First part is pre-charging preparation and inspection. Before starting any charging operation, operators need to confirm they have received basic safety training and wear corresponding anti-slip work shoes and necessary protective gloves. They need to check the outer shell of the battery to confirm there is no obvious bulge, crack or electrolyte leakage, meanwhile check the assigned charging station to make sure the area is well ventilated, no flammable and sundries are stacked nearby, the power supply circuit of the charger has no exposed cracks or damage. Operators should not operate with wet hands, and do not place metal tools on the surface of the battery to avoid accidental short circuit.
Second part is formal standardized charging operation steps. Operators should push or drive the electric pallet truck to the designated fixed charging position, pull up the handbrake stably, and turn off the whole vehicle power switch completely. First connect the charging port on the battery side, confirm the interface is fully inserted without looseness, then connect the plug on the power supply side of the charger, turn on the charger switch, check that the displayed charging current and voltage match the rated parameters of the corresponding battery. Operators are not allowed to mix chargers of different specifications for charging. During the whole charging process, operators should make regular patrol every 30 minutes, check that the battery surface has no overheating, peculiar smell or abnormal leakage, and no one is allowed to pull out the charging interface without permission.
Third part is post-charging management process. After the charger shows that the battery is fully charged, the operator should turn off the charger power first, then unplug the plug on the power supply side, then disconnect the charging interface on the battery side, cover the battery protection sealing cover tightly, and arrange the charging cables neatly and place them in the designated storage position. If there is a small amount of electrolyte residue on the surface of the battery, the operator should wipe it clean with a special neutral damp cloth. After that, move the electric pallet truck away from the charging station to the designated parking area, fill in the corresponding charging operation record form, and report any abnormal situation found during the process to the on-site maintenance personnel in time.
For daily long-term management, operators are required to strictly abide by the safety regulations that no open flame or smoking is allowed in the charging area, and confirm that the fire-fighting equipment in the charging area is placed in place and available at any time. Avoid operating until the battery is completely over-discharged, and arrange regular supplementary charging for batteries that are not used for a long time, which can effectively extend the cycle service life of the battery and reduce the comprehensive operation and maintenance cost of the material handling system.
