First, the pre-charging inspection module is the foundation of all safety operations in lithium-ion forklift battery rooms. Before any battery is moved into the designated charging area, operators should first check the appearance of the battery shell to confirm there is no crack, deformation, liquid leakage or abnormal bulge on the surface. All batteries that show obvious physical damage must be moved to an independent temporary storage area far away from the charging zone for subsequent professional assessment, instead of being put into charging process directly. Then operators need to verify that the voltage and capacity parameters of the battery match the corresponding charging equipment, and confirm that the power supply circuit, plug and socket of the charging station have no exposed copper wires, loose connection or overheating traces. The surrounding area of the charging position should be cleared of all flammable paper, plastic packaging, wooden pallets and other combustible sundries, and the dedicated fire suppression device for lithium battery accidents must be placed at a visible and easily accessible position within 3 meters of the charging zone.
During the whole charging process, staff on duty need to conduct regular patrols according to the specified frequency, instead of leaving the battery room unattended for a long time. When inserting the charging connector, operators should ensure the interface is fully and tightly connected, avoid forced pulling or prying the joint to cause internal circuit damage. The ambient temperature of the battery room should be kept within the reasonable range specified by product design, and the ventilation system must be kept in normal operation all the time to avoid excessive accumulation of heat generated during battery charging. If the system triggers any abnormal alarm information related to over-temperature, over-current or abnormal voltage, operators should cut off the main power supply of the corresponding charging position immediately, record the specific data of the alarm, and contact the professional maintenance team to handle the problem instead of trying to disassemble the battery or charging equipment without professional authorization. It is not allowed to place any personal electronic devices, food or drinks on the charging station or nearby battery storage racks, to prevent accidental liquid spillage or short circuit risks.
After the charging process is fully completed, operators should first confirm the battery core temperature drops to the normal ambient level before moving the battery to the designated standby storage area. They need to sort out the charging logs of the day completely, record the number of charged batteries, total charging duration, any abnormal conditions found in the process and corresponding handling measures, to facilitate subsequent trace check of safety status. The power supply of charging equipment that is not in use for a long time should be turned off in time, and the dust and sundries on the surface of the charging station and the ground of the battery room should be cleaned every shift to maintain a tidy and safe operating environment. Regular safety training should be arranged for all personnel who enter the lithium-ion forklift battery room, to ensure every operator is familiar with all items of the safety protocol checklist, and can respond correctly when unexpected situations occur, effectively reducing all kinds of avoidable safety risks in daily operation.
