For cold chain warehousing, frozen food distribution centers and pharmaceutical low-temperature storage scenarios, stable material handling performance directly affects overall operational efficiency, and many operators face the common decision of selecting suitable forklift equipment for low-temperature working environments.
Standard electric forklifts designed for normal room temperature operating environments have not been specially adjusted for extreme cold conditions. When they are used for long-term operation below 0℃, the activity of the battery core will decrease significantly, leading to a 30% to 50% drop in actual available range compared with the nominal data. The common hydraulic oil used in the vehicle will increase in viscosity at low temperatures, leading to unsmooth lifting and tilting actions, and the unprotected electrical components are prone to poor contact after frequent condensation caused by temperature difference changes. The uncoated metal structural parts will also have accelerated corrosion after long-term contact with low-temperature humid air.
The cold-storage-spec forklift completes targeted optimization for the above hidden troubles from the design stage. The battery unit is equipped with a constant temperature insulation layer to ensure that the core operates within the normal working temperature range even in a -35℃ freezing environment, and the low-condensation-point special hydraulic oil ensures the flexibility of the hydraulic system. All electrical connectors are treated with anti-condensation sealing, and the surface of the metal structure is sprayed with special anti-corrosion coating, so that the operation efficiency can be maintained at more than 90% of the normal temperature level during long-term continuous low-temperature operation.
It is worth noting that not all low-temperature scenarios must choose cold-storage-spec forklifts. If the operation scene is a short-term access to the 0℃ fresh-keeping storage area, and the single stay time of the forklift in the low-temperature environment does not exceed 15 minutes, the standard electric forklift can meet the operation demand after regular defrosting and weekly circuit inspection, with lower initial procurement cost and more convenient daily maintenance. For scenarios that require continuous operation for more than 4 hours a day in a deep freezing area below -18℃, the cold-storage-spec forklift can effectively reduce the downtime caused by cold failures, and the comprehensive operating cost in the whole life cycle will be more advantageous. Operators can make reasonable selection according to their actual operation duration, low temperature range and budget arrangement, to achieve the balance between input and operation efficiency.
