First, start with full alignment of local regulatory requirements before launching the certification process. Different regions release distinct rules for powered industrial equipment operation issued by local occupational safety authorities, and there is no universal rule that can apply to all regions. Operation managers need to sort out the explicit clauses on electric forklift operator qualification, required training hours, assessment standards and certification validity period from local official documents, to avoid non-compliance caused by applying other regions’ simplified rules blindly.
Next, build a targeted training system that fully meets regional stipulations. The theoretical training part should cover local site traffic rules, power system safety precautions of electric forklifts, rated load limits, operation specifications for special scenarios like narrow aisles and sloped surfaces, and standard emergency response procedures for unexpected faults. The practical training part should arrange sufficient guided operation time that meets the minimum requirement set by local regulators, allowing trainees to practice loading and unloading, accurate steering, stable parking and emergency stop operation in closed training zones without on-site interference.
Then carry out standardized assessment and complete certification filing. The theoretical test should adopt question sets compiled strictly according to local regional standards, and the passing score should be set in line with official requirements. The practical assessment needs to be supervised by qualified assessors with relevant recognized qualifications, to evaluate trainees’ operation normality and risk pre-judgment ability in real operation scenarios. For operators who pass both tests, complete certification records including training attendance, test scores, personal profile and validity period should be made and stored for the period required by local regulatory authorities.
Finally, arrange regular recertification as required. Most regions have clear rules on the validity term of electric forklift operator certificates, and related personnel must receive updated training and pass re-assessment before the certificate expires. If the work site has major changes that may bring new operation risks, supplementary training and corresponding certification check are also necessary to keep the operator’s qualification always compliant. Proper certification arrangement can effectively reduce operation accidents and support stable daily logistics operation.
