Electric forklifts are core pieces of equipment widely used in modern warehouse, manufacturing and logistics scenarios, and their power batteries directly determine operation efficiency and use safety. When the system triggers a formal overheating warning on the dashboard, operators should never ignore the alert or force the vehicle to continue operating, as improper handling may lead to unnecessary equipment damage or even potential safety hazards.
The first step after receiving the overheating warning is to complete standardized emergency response actions in sequence. First, slowly drive the forklift to an open, well-ventilated area that is far away from stacked flammable and combustible goods, turn off the main power switch of the vehicle, pull the handbrake stably, and arrange for unrelated personnel in the surrounding area to evacuate to a safe distance. Do not directly touch the shell of the power battery immediately to avoid scalding, and do not pour cold water on the battery pack for rapid cooling, which may cause internal short circuit, shell cracking or electrolyte leakage. You can wait 8 to 12 minutes for the battery to complete the initial natural cooling under ventilation, and observe the change of the warning light on the dashboard at the same time.
The second step is to carry out targeted troubleshooting for common causes of abnormal overheating. First, check the heat dissipation vents on the surface of the battery pack to confirm whether they are blocked by accumulated dust, packaging debris or other operation residues, which will block the normal heat dissipation channel. Then check the recent operation log to confirm whether the forklift has been running under full load for a long time beyond the continuous discharge range allowed by the battery specification, and check the recent charging records to confirm whether there is overcharging behavior, or the charging environment is in a closed space with high temperature and no cooling measures.
If the overheating warning still exists after the battery returns to normal ambient temperature, do not disassemble the internal structure of the battery pack without professional permission, and contact the certified equipment maintenance personnel to carry out comprehensive detection of core cell performance, circuit conductivity and heat dissipation system operation status, so as to eliminate hidden dangers in time. In daily use, enterprises can also arrange regular safety training for operators, formulate weekly battery dust cleaning and heat dissipation channel inspection rules, and arrange charging operations in a cool and ventilated special area, which can effectively reduce the occurrence of overheating warnings, extend the service life of electric forklift batteries, and ensure the stable progress of daily material handling work.
