Proper brake system configuration is a core prerequisite for stable, safe operation of heavy-load electric pallet jack equipment, as these units usually carry cargo ranging from 2 tons to 5 tons in high-frequency industrial material handling scenarios. Unreasonable parameter settings may lead to hidden operation risks, accelerated component wear, or reduced work efficiency, so it is necessary for engineering teams and equipment managers to master the core parameter points during configuration.
The first core parameter point is static braking torque matching. Before formal configuration, teams need to match the maximum static braking force output with the rated load of the equipment, rather than blindly pursuing excessive braking force to avoid unnecessary wear of friction pads and axle load fluctuations. The static braking torque should be kept at 1.2 to 1.5 times of the maximum required braking force under full-load static parking on standard flat ground, which can balance parking safety and component service life.
The second key parameter is dynamic braking response calibration. For heavy-load electric pallet jacks that operate in narrow warehouse aisles, the brake trigger response delay should be adjusted within a reasonable range, neither too long to cause insufficient stopping distance under sudden conditions nor too short to cause unexpected jolts that may damage the carried cargo. Regular tests should be carried out after configuration to verify the stopping distance under full-load running at the rated moving speed, to make sure the value complies with general industrial operation safety standards.
The third configuration point is wear compensation reserve setting. The brake friction pads will generate normal wear after long-term operation, so the system should reserve reasonable automatic compensation stroke in the initial parameter setup. The reserved stroke should cover the normal wear loss of friction pads within the regular maintenance cycle, to avoid sudden drop of braking performance between two adjacent maintenance checks. Operators can also set corresponding gentle reminder thresholds in the system, to send out notification when the friction pad wear reaches the preset reference value for on-site inspection.
The last parameter point is environmental adaptation adjustment. For equipment that often works in low-temperature, high-humidity or dusty sites, corresponding parameters should be adjusted properly. For example, the brake pre-judgment logic can be slightly optimized for sites with slippery ground, to extend the contact time between friction pairs before full braking force output, reducing the slipping risk during full-load stopping. All the above parameter points should be adjusted and verified according to the actual application scenarios of the equipment, no universal configuration standard can fit all operation conditions. Regular routine inspection and re-calibration of brake system parameters every six months can effectively maintain the stable operation state of heavy-load electric pallet jack equipment in long-term use.
