Walk-behind pallet trucks are core auxiliary tools for daily horizontal material handling in small and medium-sized warehouses, retail distribution points and manufacturing workshops, and clarifying the parameter differences between different load grades can help operators select equipment matching actual usage scenarios to avoid unnecessary operation costs.
The first core difference lies in the rated load related parameters. Light-duty walk-behind pallet trucks are usually designed for scenarios where the single transportation weight is below 1500kg, and their load-related structural parameters are set according to the frequent transportation of small batches of light goods. The thickness of the fork body and chassis load-bearing steel plate is matched with the conventional use intensity of low-load scenarios, and the overall self-weight of the equipment is controlled at a relatively low level to reduce the operation difficulty for walk-behind operators. As for medium-duty grades, they are designed for scenarios where the single transportation weight is between 1500kg and 3000kg. The fork body and chassis structure are made of thicker high-strength steel to bear long-term frequent load pressure, and the installation position of the load-bearing force point is optimized to avoid structural deformation caused by long-term full-load operation. Operators are advised not to overload the equipment even if the goods seem to temporarily exceed the nominal load range, to extend the overall service life of the equipment.
The second obvious difference is the power and endurance related parameters. For light-duty walk-behind pallet trucks, the standard battery capacity is designed to support 3 to 4 hours of continuous operation, which matches the small goods flow characteristics of convenience stores, small retail warehouses and other scenarios. The drive motor has relatively low rated power, which can reduce unnecessary energy consumption in low-intensity operation scenarios, and the later charging frequency and maintenance cost are controlled at a relatively low level. For medium-duty grades, the battery capacity is set to support 6 to 8 hours of continuous operation under full load state. The drive motor has higher rated power, which can output stable power when moving on slight slope roads or transporting goods close to the upper limit of rated load, to avoid operation stagnation caused by insufficient power.
Except for load capacity and power parameters, there are also differences in operation width, turning radius and later maintenance cost parameters between the two grades. Light-duty walk-behind pallet trucks usually have a smaller body width and more flexible turning radius, which is suitable for narrow aisle scenarios such as supermarket back-end storage, while medium-duty grades have slightly larger body weight and higher overall structural rigidity, suitable for frequent high-intensity material handling in industrial logistics transfer points. Operators can make a targeted selection according to the average daily transportation volume, maximum single goods weight and operation site conditions, to maximize the cost performance of the equipment in actual use.
