Many modern logistics and food processing facilities are designed with mixed operational zones, where constant-temperature cold rooms for frozen and fresh goods storage are directly connected to ambient-temperature picking, packaging and loading zones. Operators often arrange the same fleet of electric forklifts to shuttle between the two areas for high turnover efficiency, while improper procurement will easily lead to frequent equipment faults, shortened service life and hidden safety risks.
The first key reminder is to verify the adaptation of core functional components for wide temperature ranges. The power battery system should be equipped with independent dual-temperature control modules, which can automatically start low-temperature preheating mode when the forklift enters the cold room, and switch to heat dissipation mode timely when the forklift runs for a long time in the ambient-temperature zone, to avoid excessive power attenuation or overheating damage. The hydraulic sealing parts, lubricating grease for gantry and transmission components shall pass the wide temperature cycle test, to prevent brittle cracking, oil leakage or part jamming caused by dramatic temperature changes. The whole machine circuit shall be added with anti-condensation protection treatment, to avoid short circuit risk caused by dew formation when the cold equipment is exposed to warm moist air.
The second reminder is to check the performance calibration for cross-zone operation. Do not choose the models only designed for long-time static low-temperature storage, which will cause overload and overheating fault after long time operation in ambient environment. Neither choose ordinary ambient-only electric forklifts, whose core components will experience accelerated aging after frequent access to low temperature environment. It is recommended to confirm with suppliers that the sample machines have completed simulated continuous cross-zone operation test of no less than 1000 hours, and the braking, steering and lifting response speed can meet the safety operation standards under two temperature conditions.
The third reminder is to evaluate the full lifecycle operation and maintenance supporting plan. Before procurement, confirm that the supplier can provide targeted maintenance specifications for cross-temperature operation, and the supply cycle of special wide-temperature vulnerable parts matches your daily operation rhythm. Reasonable configuration of necessary comfortable functions such as adjustable cab heating will also help reduce operation fatigue of forklift drivers during long shifts. Strictly checking the above items in the procurement process can effectively extend the service life of the electric forklift fleet, reduce unplanned downtime, and create stable support for the efficient turnover of stored goods.
