Electric counterbalance forklifts are widely applied in various material handling scenarios including industrial warehouses, manufacturing workshops and distribution stations. Reasonable visibility management is a core link to reduce operation risks, avoid unexpected collisions to goods, personnel or facility, and guarantee stable daily operation. The following practical improvement practices are summarized based on long-term frontline operation experiences, which can be implemented without high additional input.
First, complete standardized pre-operation adjustment before each shift. Operators should adjust the position of the seat to match their own height and sitting posture habit, to ensure they can clearly observe the front fork tip and rear counterweight edge in normal sitting state. Adjust the angle of left, right and rear-view mirrors properly, to cover the conventional blind zones on two sides of the vehicle body that cannot be directly observed by naked eyes. Clear up all stacked sundries on the front and side transparent protection plates of the operation cabin, to avoid unnecessary visual block. Operators also need to check the surface cleanliness of all visual components before starting the equipment, and wipe off residual dust, oil stains or sundries left by last shift.
Second, follow standard operation norms in the whole operation process. When the forklift is running with loaded goods, keep the fork height at 10cm to 15cm above the ground as far as possible, do not lift the goods to too high position during driving, to prevent the loaded cargo from blocking the front view of the operator. When moving backwards, combine the observation of side and rear-view mirrors, and make slight postural adjustment to confirm the potential hidden zones if necessary, do not rely entirely on the audible reversing prompt to avoid missing sudden obstacles in the rear area. When turning at narrow aisles or crossing the intersection of operation routes, reduce the driving speed in advance, and observe the conditions of passing personnel and stacked goods on both sides of the route fully.
Third, carry out regular equipment maintenance and site optimization. Arrange regular inspection for all transparent protection parts and mirrors, replace the components with severe scratch or wear that may affect normal sight in time. Keep the operation passage unobstructed, do not stack over-height goods randomly at the turning or crossing area of the passage to block the cross visual field of operators. For long-time continuous operation, arrange proper rest interval for operators regularly, to avoid visual fatigue that leads to reduced response to potential hidden risks.
All these practices can effectively reduce the operation blind zone of electric counterbalance forklifts, create safer working conditions for frontline operators, and promote the stable improvement of overall material handling efficiency.
