For enterprises that need to purchase a large number of forklifts for daily warehouse, logistics or port operation, inconsistent quality across different bulk delivery batches may lead to higher maintenance cost, unexpected operation downtime and extra hidden safety risks, which makes screening qualified suppliers with stable quality output a core priority in the whole procurement process.
The first step of effective screening is to conduct in-depth verification on the supplier’s full-cycle quality management system. You are suggested to check the complete quality control rules covering incoming parts inspection, standardized assembly operation, offline full performance testing and other core links, instead of only reviewing paper certification documents. Apply for on-site production visit in advance, check the random selected test logs of different past production batches, and confirm no quality control nodes are omitted in regular production arrangements.
The second step is to carry out small trial order verification before placing large bulk orders. Do not sign a high-value bulk cooperation agreement at the beginning, but issue a small trial order of 5 to 10 units first. Conduct full dimension tests on power system performance, load bearing parameter, battery endurance, safety component sensitivity and other indicators of each delivered unit, record all test data, and compare the parameter deviation between different units to confirm all deviations stay in the reasonable industry acceptable range. This step can effectively avoid the situation that suppliers provide specially optimized products for trial orders but reduce configuration in formal bulk deliveries.
The third step is to investigate the stability of the supplier’s upstream supply chain. Confirm that the supplier maintains long-term stable cooperation with core part providers, and does not have frequent records of changing upstream component channels. You can require the supplier to provide the traceable procurement records of the same forklift model in the latest 12 months, to prevent the quality fluctuation of upstream parts from being transmitted to the final finished forklift products.
The last step is to clarify quality constraint clauses in formal cooperation contracts. Write down the allowable quality deviation range for bulk deliveries, unified sampling inspection standard for each batch, return and compensation mechanism for unqualified batches into official agreements, to make clear the rights and responsibilities of both parties. With the whole set of screening measures, procurement teams can effectively reduce the quality fluctuation risk in bulk forklift procurement, establish long-term stable cooperative relationship, and provide reliable equipment support for daily business operation.
