As the material handling industry sees diversified operation demands across different work sites, power supply arrangement for electric forklifts has become a core factor affecting overall operation efficiency. The full series of BYD lithium-ion forklifts are designed with multiple selectable charging modes, to match the actual conditions of different sites without requiring extra adjustment on the core power system.
The low-power overnight charging mode is the standard option for small and medium-sized warehouses with daily operation hours below 8. This mode features mild charging current, with very low maintenance threshold and no need for on-duty dedicated staff. Operators can simply connect the forklift to the dedicated charging area after daily work, and the whole charging process will finish automatically during off hours. This mode well fits the low to medium intensity operation rhythm, and helps maintain stable long-term battery performance.
The regular medium-speed fast charging mode is suitable for medium-sized logistics distribution sites with around 12 hours of daily operation. With this mode, the forklift can get enough power to support 4 to 6 hours of subsequent operation within 30 to 45 minutes during the crew shift break. Site operators do not need to reserve extra spare batteries for power replacement, which saves extra storage space and additional equipment procurement cost for the working area.
The high-power opportunity charging mode is customized for 24-hour non-stop heavy duty sites such as large manufacturing bases and port freight yards. For these scenarios where forklifts barely have long idle periods, this mode allows short-time top-up within 10 to 15 minutes during loading and unloading gaps or temporary operation stops, to fully support continuous multi-shift operation. The built-in battery management system will dynamically adjust the charging current at the same time, to keep battery degradation at a reasonable level during long-term daily use.
All the above charging modes adopt general standard charging interfaces, and site operators can choose the most suitable configuration based on their local power distribution capacity, daily operation schedule and overall site planning. No large-scale reconstruction on the original power supply facilities is required, which effectively reduces the comprehensive cost of popularizing electric forklift equipment for different types of users.
