Against the background of low-carbon development trend in the global logistics industry, electric forklifts have become one of the most widely used material handling equipment in closed warehouse scenarios, port cargo yards and manufacturing workshops in recent years. Many frontline practitioners need systematic and easy-to-master professional knowledge to give full play to the performance of such equipment in daily operation.
Core Performance Characteristics of Electric Forklifts
Different from fuel-powered handling equipment, most electric forklifts rely on rechargeable battery packs as the core power source, which will not produce exhaust emissions during operation, and the overall operating noise is maintained at a relatively low level. This feature makes it suitable for scenarios that have strict requirements for air quality and working environment comfort, such as food storage workshops, pharmaceutical sorting centers, and indoor e-commerce operation warehouses. In terms of operating cost, the energy consumption cost per unit running time of electric forklifts is usually at a relatively low level, and the structure of the power system is simpler, which reduces the frequency of regular replacement of vulnerable parts related to fuel power.
Standard Operation Guidelines for Electric Forklifts
Before starting each shift, operators need to complete basic pre-inspection work, including checking the remaining power of the battery, the sensitivity of the brake and steering system, and the wear degree of the solid tires. During the driving process, operators should avoid sharp acceleration and sharp braking, keep the goods at a low position when moving on the ramp, and not carry out lifting or tilting operations of the cargo frame in a moving state. When the equipment sends out low power reminder, operators should arrange to return to the designated charging area in time to avoid sudden power failure in the operation area that affects the normal handling process.
Daily Maintenance and Usage Notes
The regular maintenance work of electric forklifts mainly focuses on the power system and circuit parts, operators should regularly clean the dust and sundries on the surface of the battery and the connection interface, and check whether the cable sheath has damage or exposed parts. For the equipment that needs to be parked for a long time, keep the battery power at 40% to 60% of the normal level, and charge the battery every 1 to 2 weeks to avoid over-discharge damage to the battery pack. The standardized daily maintenance can effectively extend the service life of the equipment, reduce the probability of unexpected failure in the operation process, and help the warehouse operation team to maintain a stable material handling efficiency.
