Every year, the holiday season brings surging consumer demand, huge order volumes and sharp rise of cargo turnover pressure for warehouses, distribution centers and terminal logistics outlets. Stand-on electric pallet trucks, known for their compact body, flexible maneuverability and easy operation, have become one of the most widely used material handling equipment in peak period operations. Proper application rules and targeted adjustment plans can help these devices give full play to their advantages, avoid unnecessary operation stagnation, and support the stable running of the whole logistics workflow.
Before the official arrival of the logistics peak, it is recommended to arrange a full-range pre-inspection for all stand-on electric pallet trucks in use 3 to 5 days in advance. The inspection scope covers battery health status, tightness of charging ports, wear degree of load wheels and steering wheels, sealing performance of the lifting hydraulic system, and sensitivity of the emergency braking device. Operation teams can organize a short focused training session for all relevant operators, to re-clarify the rated load limit, correct operation posture and hidden risk points in narrow channel scenarios. It is also advisable to make a 1-minute pre-shift check routine for each operator before they start work every day, so that minor potential faults can be found and handled in time, to prevent unplanned downtime during the busiest hours.
For the peak period operation process, teams can make targeted optimization to match the high cargo flow characteristics. It is suggested to divide independent operation routes for different work scenarios, such as exclusive lines from the unloading area to the temporary storage zone, and separate lines from the sorting area to the outbound loading zone, to reduce cross-traffic congestion of different handling equipment. Arrange a special post to take charge of equipment scheduling and charging management, arrange the pallet truck for replacement charging when the remaining power reaches about 30%, instead of waiting for the battery to be fully depleted, which can greatly cut down the waiting time for recharging. The stand-on operation design of this type of pallet truck can also save the frequent get-on and get-off steps for operators, so that they can finish cargo confirmation and scanning work more smoothly during each handling trip, to improve the single trip operation efficiency reasonably.
During the whole peak operation period, reasonable rest arrangement and daily maintenance work can not be ignored. Set a 10-minute break every 2 hours for operators, to avoid misoperation caused by long-time continuous work and fatigue. Remind operators to keep a safe distance no less than 0.8 meters with surrounding staff and stacked cargo piles, and slow down when turning at corners with blocked vision. After finishing the daily operation task, park all stand-on electric pallet trucks at the designated charging area, clean up sundries attached to the vehicle body, and clear the dust accumulated on the heat dissipation vents, to avoid overheating risk caused by long-time high-load operation. These simple and feasible measures can effectively reduce equipment failure probability, support the logistics team to go through the peak period smoothly, and guarantee the timeliness of end customer order delivery.
