Semi-automated warehouse process workflow has become a widely adopted operation mode for most medium and small-sized logistics scenarios at present, which balances initial investment cost and operation efficiency well, and electric pallet truck acts as the core manual-machine connecting equipment between different semi-automated stations. Reasonable matching and correct application of electric pallet trucks can fully release the operation potential of existing semi-automated warehouse facilities, without additional large-scale transformation investment.
For the inbound receiving section of semi-automated warehouses, most sites are equipped with automatic cargo information scanning and registration stations. When deploying electric pallet trucks, teams need to confirm the reserved docking space around the scanning stations first, select the model with suitable load capacity and operation maneuverability, to ensure operators can stably place the whole pallet of goods in the specified sensing area of the automatic scanning device in one attempt. This matching operation can effectively reduce repeated information entry work, and cut down the non-effective waiting time between manual handling and automatic data recording sections.
For the storage and order picking section of semi-automated warehouses, most sites are configured with semi-automatic picking walls or assisted goods picking indication systems. The dimension of selected electric pallet trucks should fit the preset channel width between adjacent picking stations, and operators are suggested to turn to low-speed travel mode when moving across the areas with high personnel flow, to keep safe operation distance with the running automated auxiliary equipment. This arrangement can avoid cross interference between manual handling and automated picking processes, and maintain continuous and stable operation of the whole workflow.
For the outbound sorting section of semi-automated warehouses, most sites are connected with automatic weighing and temporary storage sorting lines. Operators need to adjust the parking position of electric pallet trucks accurately to align with the loading and unloading end of the automated packing line, and transmit whole pallets of goods steadily to the conveying platform. The daily maintenance and battery charging schedule of electric pallet trucks also needs to be aligned with the shift arrangement of the warehouse, to avoid unexpected operation interruption during peak outbound periods.
Logistics teams can also adjust the application rules of electric pallet trucks dynamically according to the periodic update of semi-automated warehouse processes, to achieve long-term stable operation effect and get continuous improvement of overall handling efficiency.
