Narrow pedestrian-corridor zones are common scenarios in modern manufacturing workshops, cold chain storage facilities and e-commerce warehouses, where limited space, frequent pedestrian flow and mixed personnel-equipment movement bring hidden risks to daily electric forklift operation. Implementing standardized operation rules in such zones can effectively avoid unnecessary safety accidents, and maintain stable on-site operation order.
Before entering narrow pedestrian-corridor zones, operators need to complete a full set of pre-operation checks first. They should confirm the braking system, sound and light alarm devices, reversing buzzer and walking control system of the electric forklift are in normal working state. The management team shall conduct regular measurement of the clear width of all designated pedestrian corridors, remove stacked sundries blocking the passage in time, and set clear color division marking lines on the ground to separate forklift driving areas and pedestrian walking areas. All personnel entering relevant zones shall be required to wear standard reflective vests, to improve visibility for forklift operators.
During the whole operation process in narrow pedestrian-corridor zones, operators shall strictly control the driving speed below 3km per hour, keep the alert state at all times, and continuously observe the dynamic conditions in front and side of the vehicle. When the carried goods are too high to block the front sight of operators, they shall turn to reverse driving state, to ensure they can clearly observe the road condition ahead. When approaching corners, door openings or blind areas in the corridor, operators shall sound the warning horn in advance, and do not overtake other moving equipment in the narrow corridor at any time. Once operators find pedestrians walking in the driving area, they shall steadily stop the forklift at a safe distance of no less than 1 meter away, and start to move again only after the pedestrians leave the operation area completely.
For long-term safety management, the operation team shall arrange regular safety training for all electric forklift operators, prohibit uncertified personnel from driving any handling equipment in the corridor zones. Relevant teams can also arrange regular hidden danger investigation every week, and organize emergency response drills for accidental collision risks, to further improve the overall safety level of on-site operation.
