
As the material handling industry accelerates its shift to low-carbon electric operation, the human-machine interface (HMI) of latest generation electric forklifts has evolved from a basic parameter display component to a core interactive module tailored for practical on-site operation scenarios. All design upgrades are oriented to reduce operators’ cognitive burden and improve overall operation fluency, without redundant or distracting functions that may interfere with daily tasks.
First, the new HMI adopts full ergonomic optimization for different working conditions. The display panel comes with multi-angle adjustment support and anti-glare coating, which can present clear content under strong outdoor sunlight or dim indoor warehouse lighting. The interface uses large-sized, intuitively designed icon sets instead of dense text descriptions, so operators wearing thick work gloves can finish touch operations accurately without taking off gloves, effectively cutting unnecessary operation interruptions. The physical shortcut keys around the display are also arranged according to the frequency of actual use, allowing operators to access frequently used functions with short hand movement distance.
Second, the HMI provides dynamic real-time status visualization to support reasonable operation arrangement. It not only shows basic data such as remaining battery level, current lifting height and on-board load weight, but also calculates estimated remaining working duration dynamically based on real-time load status, current travel path gradient and previous operation habits, instead of providing fixed static estimation values. This function helps operation managers arrange work shifts more reasonably and avoid unexpected power loss during peak operation hours.
Third, the system integrates hierarchical safety interaction mechanisms to reduce misjudgment of risks. Different from the old single harsh alarm design, the new HMI uses color-coded pop-up prompts matched with low-decibel graded sound alerts: green prompts indicate normal operation status, yellow prompts remind operators of potential minor risks such as upcoming maintenance schedules, and red prompts send out high-level notifications for conditions that need immediate treatment. This mode avoids disturbing the operator’s focus while ensuring risk information is effectively transmitted.
Finally, the HMI also provides convenient maintenance assistance functions. It automatically records the running duration of core components, pushes regular maintenance reminders according to actual use scenarios, and displays step-by-step simple troubleshooting guidelines for common minor faults, which can effectively reduce on-site downtime waiting for professional after-sales support and improve overall equipment operation efficiency.
