Operator practice drills for stacking at height with electric forklifts(figure1)

High-height stacking is one of the most frequent operation scenarios for electric forklifts in modern warehousing and logistics scenarios. Standardized, systematic practice drills can help operators form stable operation muscle memory, reduce operation risks, and ensure the stability of goods and the safety of storage racks during high-position operation. All drills need to be carried out in a closed, non-interference special training area that meets safety specifications, with full-time safety instructors on site for guidance.

Pre-drill safety preparation

Before starting any formal practice, operators need to complete a series of basic check procedures first. They shall inspect the main operating components of the electric forklift, including the lifting system, steering system, braking system and lighting prompt device, to confirm all parts are in normal working condition. Then they need to check the training site, clear the irrelevant obstacles in the driving and operation area, mark the safe operation boundary, and confirm that the ground can bear the load of the forklift and the maximum load of the lifted goods. Operators shall also wear complete anti-fall, anti-collision personal protective equipment, and confirm the weight, packaging firmness of the test goods used in the drills to avoid unstable sliding during the operation process.

Phased progressive practice arrangement

The drills shall follow the principle of from easy to difficult to avoid excessive operation difficulty leading to unnecessary safety risks. The first stage is low-position simulation practice, the training height is controlled below 1.5 meters, operators practice to adjust the level of the forks, align the fork pocket of the goods steadily, control the driving speed not exceed 3km/h during the whole moving process, and master the synchronous coordination of steering, speed adjustment and fork lifting action. The second stage is medium-height adaptation practice, the training height is set between 1.5 meters and 3 meters, operators need to adapt to the change of observation perspective as the fork rises, master the fine adjustment of the gap between the fork and the storage rack beam, avoid scraping the rack body, and adjust the inclination angle of the mast appropriately according to the height of the goods to keep the goods stable. The third stage is full-height formal practice, the training height is set according to the actual working demand on site, operators practice to complete a full set of actions including approaching the target rack position slowly, lifting the goods to the designated height stably, moving horizontally to the stacking position accurately, placing the goods smoothly, retracting the forks and resetting the mast, to ensure the whole operation process is coherent without redundant actions.

Error correction and regular consolidation

During the drill process, instructors shall correct common non-standard behaviors in time, including the behavior of driving at too high speed when the goods are lifted to high position, the behavior of adjusting mast inclination at will in the lifting state, and the behavior of not checking the surrounding blind spots before stacking. After the phased drills are completed, operators shall take the practical assessment that takes operation stability, stacking position accuracy and safety specification compliance as the core indicators. Arranging regular repeated drills every 2 to 3 months can help operators maintain good operation habits, further improve the overall operation efficiency of the warehousing link.
