Explosion-proof electric forklifts are specially designed for material handling scenarios with flammable gases, volatile chemical fumes or combustible dust, which are widely distributed across different functional zones of chemical industry plant premises. Unlike regular electric forklifts, these units adopt special isolation, sealing and spark elimination structures to avoid triggering explosion risks during daily operation, so all relevant personnel must follow standardized rules to maintain its protection performance during the full service cycle.
Before each shift of operation, operators must complete a full check on key components of the forklift, instead of skipping any step to save time. First, confirm that the explosion-proof enclosure of the control system is free of deformation, crack or loose seal, and all wiring interfaces are tightly connected without exposed conductors. Next, check the status of the tire surface, brake system and horn, to make sure no static accumulation or frictional spark will be generated during moving. Operators also need to cross-verify that the on-board explosion-proof alarm device works normally, and the residual power of the battery meets the requirement for completing the planned handling task, to avoid unexpected shutdown in hazardous zones.
When working inside chemical plant premises, operators must strictly follow the designated operation routes planned by the site safety management team, and never enter areas marked with higher explosion risk level without corresponding operation approval. The travelling speed of the forklift shall not exceed the upper limit set for indoor chemical workshops, and keep a safe distance from flammable chemical storage piles, reaction equipment and ventilation ducts. During the loading and unloading process, the total weight of the carried goods shall not exceed the rated load of the unit, and operators shall avoid violent operation actions that may cause collision, drop of goods or friction between metal components. It is also forbidden to refuel, charge the battery or conduct temporary maintenance work inside the explosion hazardous zones, all these works must be finished in the designated non-hazardous zones with complete ventilation and fire protection facilities.
The plant management team shall establish exclusive files for each explosion-proof electric forklift, and arrange regular professional inspection for all explosion-proof related components according to the actual working frequency. Any repair or modification on the explosion-proof structure of the forklift can only be carried out by trained professional personnel, and no random replacement of non-explosion-proof spare parts is allowed during maintenance. Operators shall receive targeted safety training at least once every half year, to master the latest safety rules of the plant and correct response methods for unexpected abnormal conditions. After each operation shift, the forklift must be parked at the designated safe parking area, cut off the main power supply, and record the operation status of the unit on the daily log book, to make sure hidden risks can be found and eliminated in time. Adhering to all these standardized points can effectively reduce the safety risk of material handling work in chemical plant premises, and guarantee the stable and continuous operation of the whole logistics link.
