Pallet trucks serve as core basic equipment for short-distance horizontal cargo transport in logistics, manufacturing and retail warehousing scenarios. For most operation teams, choosing between full-electric and semi-electric pallet trucks is a common decision point that directly affects daily operation efficiency and long-term use cost. This article makes a fair comparison of the two types of equipment from practical use dimensions, without biased orientation for any product type.
Semi-electric pallet trucks usually adopt a mixed power design, most models are equipped with electric driving system for walking function, and the cargo lifting and descending process is completed by manual hydraulic operation. Its core advantages first lie in the low purchase threshold, the initial input of a single unit is far lower than that of full-electric products, which is very friendly for small stores and small-sized warehouses that only undertake light load handling tasks less than 3 hours a day. Second, the structure of semi-electric pallet trucks is simpler, the number of wearing parts of the power system is small, and the daily maintenance difficulty is relatively low, no professional technician is required to complete routine inspection work. Third, the whole machine has lighter self-weight, it can adapt to narrow passage and elevator scenarios with limited load capacity of the ground, and the operation learning cycle for new operators is very short, no complicated operation certification is needed. Its limitations are also obvious: the manual hydraulic lifting process will bring extra physical consumption to operators, when handling heavy loads close to the rated load, the operation fatigue degree will rise obviously after long time continuous work. The continuous working time of most semi-electric pallet trucks after full charge can only meet 3 to 4 hours of conventional use, which cannot support high-intensity handling scenes for more than 6 hours a day.
Full-electric pallet trucks realize electric driving for both walking and lifting actions, no manual force is needed in the whole operation process. The most prominent advantage of this kind of equipment is high operation efficiency, operators can complete 2 to 3 times the handling volume of semi-electric products in the same unit time, which is very suitable for medium and large warehouses, distribution centers that need to carry out high-frequency and long-hour handling tasks every day. The whole machine is equipped with larger capacity battery, the continuous working time after full charge can reach 6 to 8 hours, which can meet the full-day operation demand of most working shifts. The operation comfort level is significantly improved, which can reduce the work fatigue of operators and lower the personnel turnover risk caused by heavy physical work. Its limitations can not be ignored: the initial purchase cost of full-electric pallet trucks is higher, which requires higher one-time capital investment for small operation teams. The structure of the power and hydraulic system is more complex, the regular maintenance items include battery state detection, transmission part lubrication, seal parts inspection, the daily maintenance work needs personnel with certain professional knowledge to complete. The self-weight of the whole machine is larger than that of semi-electric products, and it has higher requirements for the bearing capacity of the ground in the use scenario.
When choosing the two types of equipment, operation teams can make judgment based on their actual daily handling frequency, average load weight, continuous working hours and budget conditions. There is no absolute better product between the two types of pallet trucks, the most suitable option that matches the actual operation demand is the cost-effective choice.
