Electric forklift parking and shutdown procedures for end-of-shift(figure1)

Proper execution of electric forklift parking and shutdown procedures at the end of each shift is a basic requirement for industrial material handling safety, which effectively avoids potential safety hazards, reduces unnecessary equipment loss, and guarantees stable operation of the vehicle for long-term use. All operators should follow unified, standardized operation rules rather than operating randomly based on personal habits.

Before formal parking, operators need to drive the forklift away from the current operation zone to the pre-marked designated parking area, which shall not be set on ramps, fire exits, main pedestrian passages or busy loading and unloading ports. During the moving process, keep the forks 15 to 20 cm above the ground, drive at a reduced speed, and watch out for passing pedestrians and surrounding obstacles to avoid collisions.

When the vehicle arrives at the designated parking position, step on the brake pedal to make the vehicle completely static, pull up the hand brake firmly, and shift the forward and reverse gear to the neutral position. Next, lower the forks slowly until they fully touch the ground, adjust the mast to a completely vertical neutral state without tilting forward or backward, and confirm that there is no unloaded pallet or heavy goods remaining on the forks.

For formal shutdown operation, firstly reset all hydraulic control levers to their original neutral positions, turn off all working lights, warning beacons, cooling fans and other auxiliary electric devices that are used for operation, then turn the ignition key to the off position and pull the key out of the lock hole. Do not leave the key inserted on the vehicle to avoid unauthorized misoperation by unrelated personnel.

After the shutdown process is completed, operators shall carry out a simple appearance inspection to check whether there is obvious exterior damage, liquid leakage or loose parts on the vehicle. Record all abnormal conditions encountered during the shift operation in the daily operation log, and complete the handover work with the next shift operator as required. Finally, confirm that no hidden safety risks exist around the parking area, then you can leave the operation site normally.
