In modern warehouse material handling scenarios, operators often need to keep working for several consecutive hours in daily shifts, and improper vehicle design may easily cause physical fatigue, reduce operation concentration, and even affect the stability of handling work. The R&D team of BYD stand-on electric pallet truck fully considers the actual usage habits of front-line operators, and integrates a series of practical human factor design details in the whole vehicle, to create more comfortable operation experience for extended shift work.
First of all, the standing platform part that operators contact most frequently is optimized from multiple dimensions. The surface of the platform is covered with high-elastic non-slip cushion, which can effectively buffer the pressure of the calf and sole of the foot when the operator stands for a long time, and avoid the obvious sense of soreness caused by standing on the hard metal surface for a long time. The reserved standing space on the platform is reasonably planned, allowing operators to adjust their standing posture appropriately according to their own habits, and the hidden leaning support structure on the side can support operators to relax the upper body slightly, without keeping a rigid tense posture throughout the whole work process.
The second part is the ergonomic adjustment of the operation control system. The wrapping layer of the operation handle adopts soft and skin-friendly non-slip material, all functional buttons are arranged according to the natural swing radian of the adult's arm, operators do not need to lift the arm excessively or twist the wrist at a strange angle to complete all operation actions, and the trigger force of each button is set at a moderate level, which does not require extra brute force to press. Even after hundreds of operation cycles of acceleration, steering and lifting in one shift, the operator's wrist and arm will not produce obvious fatigue. The whole handle can also be adjusted up and down within a reasonable stroke, to adapt to operators of different heights to find the most suitable operation position.
In addition, the vehicle also carries out targeted optimization in terms of vision and vibration filtering. The transparent structure of the mast reduces unnecessary visual occlusion, operators can clearly observe the status of the forks and the road conditions ahead at the standing position, no need to twist the neck and probe the body frequently, which effectively reduces the burden on the cervical spine. The built-in vibration damping system can filter most of the fine jitters transmitted from the uneven ground of the workshop to the platform, avoiding the leg numbness problem caused by long-term high-frequency vibration.
All these human factor design details are based on the actual operation feedback of front-line users, which can effectively reduce the physical consumption of operators in extended shifts, help maintain good working condition, and create more reassuring value for daily warehouse handling work.
