Against the backdrop of rising demand for low-carbon warehouse operations, electric forklifts have become a core part of modern material handling systems due to their low noise, zero on-site emissions and relatively low long-term operating costs. Many warehouse operators and frontline practitioners still lack systematic understanding of their proper use and maintenance, which easily leads to reduced equipment service life and hidden safety risks in daily work.
Basic Pre-operation Inspection Protocols
Before starting any shift of operation, operators need to complete a series of standardized checks to rule out potential hidden troubles. The first step is to observe the appearance of the whole vehicle, check whether there is obvious damage to the tire condition, fork structure and overhead guard, confirm that the surrounding operating area has no sundries or unrelated personnel. Then operators need to test the braking system, steering sensitivity and lifting response under low speed state, and check the remaining power display level to avoid power loss that may interrupt subsequent operation tasks. It is also necessary to confirm that all warning labels on the vehicle body are intact and legible, and no unauthorized modification has been made to the core structure of the equipment.
Standard Operating Norms for Daily Handling Tasks
In the actual operation process, operators should adjust their driving speed according to the on-site road condition, load weight and personnel flow density of the warehouse, avoid sharp turns and sudden braking as much as possible. When picking up and placing goods, keep the fork plane in balanced contact with the bottom of the pallet, adjust the distance between the two forks to match the width of the goods to prevent unbalanced load from slipping. For high-lifting operation, operators should avoid raising the load to the maximum allowable height unless necessary, and keep the center of gravity of the whole vehicle stable during moving. It is not allowed to carry people on the vehicle body, or use the fork to lift personnel to carry out high-altitude work, which will bring unnecessary safety risks.
Scientific Daily Maintenance to Optimize Working State
Compared with internal combustion forklifts, electric forklifts have higher requirements for the maintenance of their power and electrical systems. After each shift, operators should park the vehicle in the designated ventilated and dry area, clean the dust and debris accumulated on the body surface and heat dissipation structure in time, check the connection state of the power interface to avoid corrosion caused by long-term exposure to humid environment. Follow the official specified cycle to carry out professional inspection of the motor, circuit system and energy storage unit, do not use non-matched charging equipment for replenishing energy, and arrange the charging process in accordance with the corresponding safety operation specifications. Reasonable daily care can effectively reduce the frequency of unexpected failures, keep the equipment in stable working state for a long time, and help enterprises control the comprehensive operation cost of material handling links.
